About Me
I graduated from the University of Otago in 1993 and started out at a local manufacturing, wholesaling, and retailing company. I spent three years there helping them streamline their admin and get the most out of their MYOB software. From there, I moved to a local accounting firm where I spent four years learning the ropes as an accountant and business sytems expert.
In 2002, we packed up and moved to Perth, Western Australia. I worked in a couple of firms over there before we headed back to Dunedin in 2005 with our first baby, who was just one at the time. I was lucky enough to rejoin my original firm and stayed for another eight years. After a stint at a smaller practice, I decided to go out on my own in 2018 and started Get Smart Business Solutions. Best decision I ever made—I can finally give my small business clients the time and attention they actually need, not just lip service.
Outside of work, I love watching my two boys, Elias (21) and Caellan (19), grow into amazing young men and chase their dreams. I’m also a certified football and futsal referee, and I’m the Head Referee for Dunedin Derby, our local roller derby league. Safe to say, refereeing is in my blood!
And yes, I’m a bit of a coffee addict — quad shot long blacks are my fuel of choice — so if we meet, you’ll know I’m caffeinated and ready to tackle your business challenges!
